THOMAS was 65 years of age at the time of his death, at home in Escanaba. He is the beloved husband of Elaine (nee Stuart, formerly of Livonia,) who lovingly journeyed with him through a lengthy cancer illness.
He is also survived by dear children: David (Roz) Boyne of Okemos, MI, Karen (Jayme) Couchene of Greenville, WI; grandchildren: TJ and Charles Couchene; siblings: Ron (Judy) Boyne of Terre Haute, IN, Gary (Carol) Boyne of Portland, OR, Gail Meeks of Chicago, IL, Janet (David) Doty of Cincinnati, OH, sister-in-law: Diane Solomon of Livonia, MI, and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Detroit, Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas L. and Lorraine M. (nee Katzler) Boyne.
A 1965 graduate of St. Thomas High School in Ann Arbor, Tom went on to receive his BS in Business from Eastern Michigan University. He was then called up to service in the U.S. Army (1969 to 1974) before returning to Michigan where he obtained a Master's Degree at Northern Michigan University. The beauty of Northern Michigan left a deep impression, and Tom decided to make it his home.
He served as Delta County Administrator from 1985 until his retirement in 2003.
Tom and Elaine have been members of All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone.
Visiting and Funeral Mass were held on August 1st at the All Saints Church in Gladstone, with Rev. Jamie Ziminski officiating.
An 11:00 AM Committal Service will take place on Saturday, August 3rd at the Acacia Park Cemetery in Beverly Hills, MI. Rev. Patrick Gonyeau of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Parish, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tom's name may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
