Robert J. Cummings, (Bob), 78 years old, of Livonia, Michigan and Lighthouse Point Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 with his loving family by his side.
Robert was born in Ecorse, Michigan on September 8, 1942, the son to the late Edward Cummings and Mary (Schmitt) Cummings. He graduated from Saint Francis Xavier High School (class of ‘60). A few years later Bob continued on to receive a bachelor degree in business from Eastern Michigan University in 1969, which he was very proud of.
Bob married Mildred “Millie” (Buzzie) Christopher on August 20, 1982; they were married 38 years.
Bob founded J & J Production Services, Inc. in Dearborn, Michigan and worked in the automotive industry until he retired. He traveled the world and enjoyed life to the fullest. Bob was a member at Adios Golf Club in Coconut Creek, Florida, Plum Hollow Country Club in Southfield, Michigan and Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida.
Bob enjoyed all sports, especially golfing, fishing, football and hunting. He loved fine wine, entertaining and especially spending time with his family. Bob loved music, too. Two of his favorite songs were “Jackson” by Johnny Cash and “I love this bar” by Toby Keith. Next time you hear these songs, raise your glass and toast to Bob.
Bob was also known for hosting and attending many charitable events and generously giving to others. Everyone knew if Bob was there, you were guaranteed to have a great time. He was loved and will be missed dearly.
Bob is survived by his wife Millie, daughters Barbara Pankowski and husband Edward of Northville, Kathleen Raus and husband Norwin of Manchester, Gail Magdowski and husband Darrin of Livonia and son Frank Christopher and wife Madison of Walled Lake, along with 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Friends are invited to celebrate Bob’s life with his family on Tuesday, August 3rd from 3pm - 9pm at Manns Family Funeral Home, Livonia, Michigan.
Bob will be In-state for final visiting on Wednesday, August 4th from 9am until the time of the funeral mass at 10am at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, Plymouth, Michigan. Bob will be laid to eternal rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, Michigan.
