He served in the United States Air Force. He was actively involved in AA, celebrating 33 years of sobriety this last June. Richard was a larger than life man. Always giving 100% to the things he was passionate about. We enjoyed yearly vacations in Oscoda. Then once we bought our first pop-up camper we hit the road all camping season visiting places like Niagara Falls, Colorado, traveling all thru the UP, and too many weekend or weeklong local adventures to mention. Dad had many acquaintances and rarely went anywhere where he didn't strike up a conversation with someone. He had a big personality, which anyone who has ever met him knows. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but always left an impression on everyone he met. We love you very much, and know that you are in a better place. In lieu of flowers, donations received by the family will be split and sent to support AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), and VA Assistance Services. Checks can be made out to Richard Sielaff and dropped off or mailed to the funeral home. Visitation for Richard will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM followed by Military Honors at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt, Livonia 48154.
