Richard John Hames

November 20, 1935 — February 14, 2024

Richard John Hames, aged 88, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024, in Tega Cay, SC.

He was a graduate of General Motors Institute (now Kettering) and worked as an automotive engineer with Detroit Diesel Corporation.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Aveline Hames; oldest brother Herbert Hames; and older sister Mary (Ken) Evans.

Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy; sisters and brothers, Rita (Bill) Samsa, Paul Hames, Jack (Carolyn) Hames, Margaret (Pat) Hudson, and Betty (Bill) Berg; children, Stephanie (Steve) Alexy, Kim Hames, Suzanne (Mike) Becker, and Kevin (Sarah) Hames; and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Richard enjoyed wildlife photography and filming the birds and animals in his yard and at nearby Kensington Metropark. He also enjoyed traveling with Nancy, particularly in retirement.

Catholic mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Genevieve - St. Maurice Catholic Parish, 29015 Jamison Street, Livonia, 48154, to reminisce and honor the life of Richard.
