Richard is the dear brother of Doris Cooney, and son of the late Alfred and Hilda. His service in the Army during World War II required tremendous courage; among his duties, Richard was an ammunition bearer in places like Normandy and the Rhineland. He was honored with a full military honors ceremony at the conclusion of a service that was held on December 26th. Rev. Dr. Steven B. Schafer of Mt. Hope Congregational Church, officiated. Richard was buried on December 27th at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
