Rachel B. Kaledas of Westland, Michigan passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at the age of 80. She was born in Detroit on March 10, 1941 to Morris and Bertha (nee DeBacker) Hinnau.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Kaledas, in 1993.
Rachel graduated from Nativity High School in 1959. After graduation, she enlisted in the Woman’s Army Corps division of the U.S. Army. She served from 1959 to 1961.
Robert and Rachel were married on December 1, 1962, and they lived in Illinois, Japan, and Italy while Robert was enlisted in the U.S. Army. They were married for 30 years. She loved her church, her job at the library, socializing with friends, and playing cards. Throughout her life, Rachel enjoyed traveling to Belgium to visit her extended family and loved ones.
Rachel was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who adored her family and was proud of each and every one of them.
Rachel is survived by her children, Ron Kaledas (Valerie), Linda Warren (Gilbert), and David Kaledas (Stephanie); her grandchildren, Bobby Warren, Rachel Hipps (Nick), Luke Warren, Michael Kaledas, Lenora Warren, Amber Kaledas, Liam Kaledas, and Evelyn Kaledas; and great-grandchildren Jackson Hipps and Vincent Hipps.
Rachel will be In-State for final viewing on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 12:30 PM until the time of Mass at 1:00 PM at St. John Neumann Catholic Parish at 44800 Warren Road, Canton, Michigan, 48187.
A celebration of Rachel’s life will be held following the service until 7:30 PM at Hampton Inn & Suites Canton at 1950 Haggerty Road North, Canton, Michigan, 48187.
Burial will be at a later date at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West in Westland, Michigan.
