On October 25, Martin (Marty) L. Rossow, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully in his home in Livonia at the age of 69 after a long battle with bladder cancer. Marty was born on October 23, 1951 to Harold and Cecelia Rossow of Plymouth, MI. He was the second oldest of eight siblings, and would recount his youth as one that was active with family, church, farming, and football. In 1974 he met the love of his life, Carol Wade, whom he married in 1976. In their 44 years of marriage, Marty and Carol raised two daughters, Lindsey and Colette, later welcomed grandchildren Jonas, Lola, Evelin, and Weston, and always focused their time and energy on their large circle of family and friends. Marty’s biggest love was for his family, and he spent much of his free time at sporting events, recitals, school functions, holiday festivities, and gatherings of all kinds with his grandkids and the larger extended family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, watching Michigan football on Saturdays in the fall, and taking long walks and drives with his wife through various nature parks. He was known for his patience, strong work ethic, positivity, and empathy. In addition to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, Marty is survived by his son-in-law, brother, sisters, a large extended family, and his “work family” at Consumers Energy. Due to community circumstances, the family has elected to hold a celebration of life service for family and friends in the summer of 2021. Marty’s favorite time of year was the Christmas season, fancying himself to be much like a Santa Claus, he delighted in bringing joy to those around him. As such the family asks that those wishing to honor his memory with flowers or a gift, instead consider making a donation to the Livonia Goodfellows to assist with this year’s Christmas drive.
