LUIGI was born November 23, 1931 in Cassino, Italy, and lost his courageous battle against cancer on November 17, 2007. He was 75 years old. Luigi is survived by his wife, Edith, sister, Scolastica (brother-in-law, the late Tommaso), and brother Vincenzo. He is also survived by nieces Carmela, Antonia, and Mary, numerous grand nephews, grand nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews and great-great nieces, step-daughter Silivija (Jeffrey), one step grandson, two step-granddaughters, and four step great-grandchildren. Luigi was the proud co-founder of the Italian American Cultural Center, and a member of the Italian Chamber of Commerce. As an accomplished ballroom dancer, Luigi appeared on the televised Arthur Murray Show. Each year, neighbors and friends enjoyed vegetables from Luigi's wonderful garden. Luigi was a passionate opera lover who never missed a performance. So it is fitting that the family has suggested that IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial donations be made to Luigi's favorite opera organizations. Please see the names and addresses, below. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, November 20th from 1 to 9 pm. A Rosary will be said at 7 pm (at the funeral home.) Luigi will be In State on Wednesday at 10:00 am until the time of Mass, 10:30 am, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 11441 Hubbard (at Plymouth Road) in Livonia. As noted earlier, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be deeply appreciated to the following opera theatres: Michigan Opera Theatre, 1526 Broadway, Detroit, MI 48226. Or: Verdi Opera Theatre, 7723 Hillsboro Drive, Canton, MI 48187. Or: Sarasota Opera, 61 North Pineapple Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236.
