Lillian Helen Placzek (Horak)

Lillian Helen Placzek, 92, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on July 18th, 2021.

Lillian was born in Springwells Township, Michigan (which today is Dearborn) on November 28, 1928 to Martin and Mary Horak. She graduated from Mackenzie High School and continued on to business school after graduation.
Lillian worked in the payroll department for Ford Motor Company where she met her future husband, Edward Placzek. Lillian and Edward were wed on July 9th, 1960 and they were married for 30 years. They made their home in Livonia and raised their 4 children.

Lillian had a lot of artistic talent. She had a very outgoing and adventurous spirit, loving to try new things and go to new places. Lillian really enjoyed singing, many times insisting her family harmonize along with her. Lillian was known for fantastic hugs and warm personality that always drew people in. She endured many physical pains and sufferings while maintaining a cheerful and positive attitude. She enjoyed reading, dancing, seeing movies and plays, traveling with her family, spending time with family and grandkids. She was very close with her two sisters Mary and Helen and liked to spend time with them. She loved listening to Czech music and one of her favorite trips was to the Czech Republic to see her parents’ homeland.

She is survived by her daughter Lee-Anne (Kevin) Miskowski , and sons Chris (Rosio) Placzek, Jeff (Laura) Placzek, and Drew (Holly) Placzek, grandchildren Brianna, Zachary, Lukas, Kirsten, Alexis, Bailey, Lily, Addison, Emma, Gabriel, Mia, and Lena and many nieces and nephews.

Lillian is preceded in death by her husband Edward Placzek, her parents Martin and Mary Horak, her brother Stanley Horak, and her sisters Mary Moravansky and Helen Greenwald.

The Visitation will be held on Thursday July 22nd, 2021 at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt Road, Livonia, MI 48154 from 2pm to 8pm with the funeral mass to be held on Friday July 23rd, 2021 at St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 715 E. Canfield Street, Detroit, MI 48201 at 10:00am.
