June Aileen Roddy

June Aileen Roddy passed away November 16, 2020 at the age of 100. She was born August 1, 1920 in Summit City, Michigan and came to Detroit as a young woman. She has lived in and around Detroit ever since.   She held a variety of jobs through the years, but June was a born caregiver. She took care of many, many daycare and foster care children in her home, and sometimes elderly relatives through the years. Many of those now grown children would still keep in touch with her. June attended and serve regularly in various churches, and was an active member for many years at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Livonia. She loved to dance, loved all music and attended many concerts and plays.  June was a stylish dresser and an immaculate housekeeper.  She loved to read and do word and number search puzzles. She kept in touch with so many people she'd met over the years and for her 100th birthday she received cards from more than 150 people.  Prior to covid, she loved to entertain visitors with stories about her life experiences. She loved animals and cared for many pets over the years.   June is survived by her daughters, Paula (Ron) Cruickshank and Cynthia Adams; a grandson, Ben (Katie) Cruickshank; great granddaughter, Sunny Mae Cruickshank; loving caregivers, Terrie Tomiko and Skip (Betty) Baugh.   Due to COVID, a memorial service will be held at a later date.   Memorial donations in memory of June may be made to Penrickton Center for Blind Children, your animal rescue or musical group of choice, or Wounded Warrior Project.
