Felisa DeLuna passed away March 10, 2020 at the age of 95. She was born July 10, 1924 in Villasis Pangasinan Philippines to Eustaquio and Benita. During WWII, Felisa was a Sergeant in the Thorps Infantry Regiment in the Medical Service. In 1951, she graduated from University of Philippines with a BS in Education, majors in Home Economics and Biology. She started a Home Economics Department in the high school where she taught. Felisa came to Detroit in 1954, and that same year she married Marcos. Together they had four sons, Marty, Gil, Phil, and Marcos, Jr. Felisa continued with her education and in 1956, she graduated with a Masters of Art from Columbia Teachers College, with additional education from Merrill Palmer School in Child and Family Development. In 1965, she started teaching in the Detroit Public School System, primarily teaching high school Home Economics until her retirement in 1985. Retirement did not slow Felisa down. She was a member of Kiwanis Club of Cosmopolitan Detroit, and very active in the Filipino community as a member of the Movement for a Free Philippines and teaching pro bono at Central Luzon University in the Philippines. Felisa is survived by her sons, Marty (Lena), Gil (Catalina), Phil (Sue), and Marcos, Jr (Jeannie); grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, and Ian. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eustaquio and Benita; her husband, Marcos, Sr; her siblings, Dionisio, Patricia, Mariano, Gil, and Fe. Visitation will be held Monday, March 16th from 2:00 – 8:00 PM with a Funeral Service at 6:00 PM at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt, Livonia 48154.
