Donald Jay “DJ” Lanning, Jr, of Westland, Michigan passed away on November 29, 2017 at the age of 75. Don was born in Northville on November 20, 1942. He attended South Lyon schools. Don married Mary Jo on February13, 1988, they were married for 30 years. He worked for Ford Motor Company, and the City of Northville Public Works Department before moving up north to drive for Mayflower Moving. Don moved back to the area and went on to drive for Melody Farms and Penske, where he retired from in 2007. For many years, Don also served as a Northville Township Police Reserve Officer. Don loved the outdoors. His hobbies were fishing and hunting. He loved working on cars and anything he could use his hands. Don is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; his children David (Kennah), Darlena (Jason), Angie (Craig), Michael (Heather), and Terisa (Mike); his grandchildren Jelissa, Breanna, Vanessa, Makenzie, Evan, Katie, Ellie, Alex and Chelsea; his brother Louie (Kim), his sister Mary Lou (Gerard); his sisters in law Lynn and Cathy; his niece Toni; his nephews Jay, Thom, Bill, Joe, James, Chase and Kyle; his great niece Emily; his great nephews Zack, Dawson and Jacob. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Don, Sr and Ruth; his brother and fishing buddy Allan; his in laws Mac and Jo Lloyd; his brothers in law Bob Forde and James Canavan. Visitation for Donald will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Manns Family Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Donald will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt, Livonia 48154.
