Dolores Margaret Vogel, 87, of Livonia, Michigan, sadly passed away on December 18, 2020. Dolores was born on February 6, 1933. A native Detroiter, she lived on the Westside and graduated from Mercy High School in 1950.
Dolores was married to Carl Vogel for 64 years, and he was the love of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents Walter and Gertrude Genslak, her brothers Richard and Robert Genslak, and sister Judith Stamm.
She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Baranyai; her children, Jim (Susan) Vogel, Mark (Lisa) Vogel, and Geralynn (Bill) Wilson; her grandchildren, Matt (Veronica) Vogel, Jeff Wilson (Sarah Luttinen), Katie (Matt) Williams, Margaret Vogel, Jonathan Vogel; and her four great-grandsons, Zack, Nathan, John, and Theo.
Dolores loved her family, Sanders chocolate, her Detroit Lions, Dancing with the Stars, and classic movies. Her joy of life and determined spirit kept her going over the recent years despite the challenges of severe headaches, her declining sense of sight, and bouts of pneumonia. The family takes true comfort in knowing that Dolores and Carl are reunited again.
The family would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join them on Saturday, September 18, 2021, to honor the life of their mother, Dolores. That day will begin with a Memorial Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh, Livonia, 48152; immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at the Rotary Park, Pavilion #3, located at Six Mile and Hubbard in Livonia. Please RSVP to Geralynn 734-751-5518.
In place of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Great Lakes Bully Brigade Dog Rescue. This rescue is near and dear to our mom’s heart. They operate solely on a volunteer basis, with all gifts directly benefitting the foster dogs who are injured, sick or abandoned. Foster care and adoption are carefully screened for the best possible match.
