In loving memory of our Dad, Daniel Richard Snyder, who passed on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Loving father to his daughters and son, and grandfather to four grandchildren, he will be dearly missed by his family.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 18,1938 to Jean Sniderman (Ogoroskin) and Samuel Sniderman, and his loving older sister Shirley Sniderman (Gumpper), he spent most of his life living near family and friends in the Detroit area. His interest in history, art, geography and languages led him on many travel adventures and short residencies in Scandinavia, Spain, New York and the Bay Area.
An avid academic with a Masters in Geography and Urban Planning from Wayne State University, he continued to enrich his education throughout his life. Proficient in eight languages and a teacher of geography, he earned a second Masters of Geology from Michigan State University and published a study on Olivine in his 70's. His long professional career included work in regional planning for Southeastern Michigan and information technology for Wayne State University.
ln his lifelong passion for the pursuit and study of art, his work focused mainly on oil painting, woodworking, and charcoal drawing. He painted many landscapes, abstract works, and drawings that his family and friends will continue to enjoy in his memory.
Dan is survived by and will be dearly missed by his children Ilya Snyder, Anouk Amelie Tapper, and Laure Schaffner, grandchildren Forest, Madeliene (Snowy), Isaac and Amelie (Lily), niece Valerie, great nephew Jake, and dear ex-wife Josie .
