Carol Anne Suich was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 14, 1937. She passed away at the age of 86 in Dayton, Ohio on December 6, 2023. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Alex Doro and Irene (née Woda) Doro, and her son Daniel Suich (wife Julia). She is survived by her brother Richard (“Rik”) Doro (wife Cynthia), her children David Suich (wife Cheryl), Stephanie Suich, and Jennifer Frank (husband Marlin), and her grandchildren Alex Guajardo, Annie Guajardo, Vanessa Frank, and Noah Frank. She is also survived by several other relatives and several long-time friends.
Carol was a nurse and a homemaker throughout her adult life, retiring from the nursing field in 1994. She graduated high school from Sacred Heart Academy, received her registered nurse diploma from Nazareth Nursing School, and received her Associate in Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire. She volunteered at the Detroit Institute of Art after her retirement when she lived in Westland, Michigan. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, traveling, visiting art museums and architectural sites, listening to jazz and related music, reading spy novels, doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, and occasionally vacationing at the beach.
Carol was the glue of her family, providing lots of moral support to each of her children throughout their lives and being the mother everyone could reach out to when needed. Her cooking and baking efforts and her wonderful cheery personality made holidays and family get-togethers special, especially at Christmas. Carol was a lifelong supporter of women’s causes, particularly voting and abortion rights, and environmental and animal welfare causes as well. Later in her life she was a long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous, having proudly stayed sober for numerous years and helping others do the same. She was a source of empathy and wisdom for many people over many years.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects to Carol during the visitation where she will lie in-state on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM followed by a memorial service from 11:30 AM – 12:20 PM held at Manns Family Funeral Home in Livonia Michigan.
