Carl E. Vogel Jr. 87, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away on December 18th, 2015, peacefully in his sleep. Carl was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 4, 1928. He graduated from Fordson High School in 1945. Carl was married to Dolores M. Vogel (Genslak) on April 26, 1951; they were married 64 years. Carl served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947 and achieved the rank of Machinist Mate 3rd Class while serving on the U.S.S. Philippine Sea (CV-47), his naval career included a mission to Antarctica during Operation Highjump, organized by Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd Jr. Carl worked in a variety of Tool Maker positions; he spent over 20 years at Atlas Tool Inc. in Roseville Michigan. Retiring in 1993, Carl enjoyed spending winters in Florida. He loved the sun and enjoyed watching Michigan State and Detroit Lions football in the fall and Detroit Tigers baseball in the spring and summer. Carl is survived by his three children, James (Susan), Mark (Lisa), Geralynn (Bill) Wilson; his five grandchildren, Matthew (Veronica), Jeffrey, Kathryn, Margaret, and Jonathan; and his great grandchild, Zack, son of Matthew and Veronica. Carl is preceded in eternal life by his parents, Carl Emil Vogel Sr. and Clara Agnes Vogel; his sisters, Noreen and Mildred, and his brothers, Clayton and Henry. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 1:00 - 7:30 PM with a Rosary Service at 4:00 PM at MANNS-FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 17000 Middlebelt, Livonia 48154. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh, Livonia 48152. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
