Bernice “Babe” Pearson, 93, of Livonia, MI passed away on May 24, 2022. Her family was at her side. Bernice was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 4, 1928; the 2nd daughter born to George and Stella Pilawski.
She graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Science. She returned to college and obtained her Master’s in Education later, (once their children were in school) and began teaching at Taft Middle School in Detroit where she taught for 21 years.
She also enjoyed her pastimes; variety crossword puzzle packs, watching game shows and Andy Griffith. She was a huge Detroit Tigers fan and loved football, bowling, old movies, especially the musicals, shopping, and she fully supported anything her grandchildren were involved in. She also loved her Friday night dinners and all holiday gatherings.
She was a Christian woman who was actively involved in her church and volunteered at Woodhaven assisted living community in Livonia, MI for almost 20 years.
Bernice was married to Jack E. Pearson on October 8, 1949 and married almost 63 wonderful years, until Jack’s passing in 2012.
She is survived by her 3 children, Brad (Muriel) Pearson, Randy (Dorean) Pearson, and Karen (Tom) Marcus; 10 grandchildren, Randy V., Tara, Tim, Robyn, Adam, Rebecca (Brandon), Thomas, Tyler, Taylor, and Travis; 2 great grandchildren, Zeke, and Cambria, who called her Sweetie; extended family and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Pearson; parents, George and Stella Pilawski; sister Alice.
We will be forever grateful for the love, support and blessings given upon our whole family during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 2- 8pm at Manns Family Funeral Home at 17000 Middlebelt, Livonia 48154.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 27475 Five Mile Rd. Livonia 48154.
