Barbara Jean Morrison (Brom)

Barbara Jean Morrison (Barb), age 77, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

Barb was born in LaPorte, Indiana, on March 7, 1946 to Stanley and Margaret Brom. She graduated from South Bend Central High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Education from Western Michigan University.

Barb was married to John Morrison on August 19, 1967. Meeting at church, they were High School sweethearts and shared sixty-four years of love. With John, Barb raised two children Susan and Jeffrey, and twenty years ago became the best "Nana" ever to her only granddaughter Ana.

Barb worked as a home economics and art teacher for half her career in public schools before working in one of the first corporate preschools in Dallas, Texas. In 1988 she became the Preschool Director for Tiny Tots Preschool at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Livonia. Over the next 17 years, she so enjoyed educating 3- and 4-year-olds in her community.

Barb loved to spend time with friends and family, whether it was entertaining, traveling, or supporting causes and people she loved. In retirement, she was very active in support of her granddaughter - dance classes/recitals, swim meets, sports/school functions, and Girl Scouts. She was a great cook who kept all fed well. She played bridge in many groups, enjoyed quilting and other sewing crafts, beaded jewelry, and loved to tend to her outside flowers and birds.

Barb is survived by her husband John, daughter Susan, granddaughter Ana, sister Karen, brother Jim (Ceci), brother Mike (Pat), and sister-in-law Sandy (Bob); loving Aunt to Michel, Matt (Laurie), Kevin (Terra), Loren (Brittany), Jane, Lincoln (Kara), Lisa (Ben), Jim (Elyse), and John (Kristin).

Barb is preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Morrison and parents Stanley and Margaret Brom.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 5th at 10:00am at Christ Our Saviour Lutheran Church 14175 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48154, and Life Celebration Service will be held at 11:00am the same day and place. Following the service, a luncheon will be provided at the church.

Acknowledging Barb's lifelong love of small children and their education, memorial donations in memory of Barb may be made to Christ Our Savior Early Childhood Program, 14175 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48154.
