Angelina “Angie” Frances Griggs, O.P. was 85 years old on the 24th of July in 2016 when she went peacefully to be with the Lord. Angie was surrounded by love, family and the compassionate caregivers from her home at the Sunrise of Northville assisted living, on the day of her passing. Angie was born in Detroit, MI, on the 27th of March in 1931 to Antoinette and Giovanni Rotunno. After graduating high school and attending two years of technical school Angie became the “bookkeeper” for her and her husband Lawrence “Larry” Griggs tool and die company, Maple Die and Mold in Detroit, MI. Angie also volunteered for several years as a Eucharistic minister at Providence Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital of Livonia. Angie and Larry were married in 1956 and had three beautiful children, Judi Griggs-Dennis (Dean), Lawrence Henry Griggs Jr. and Annette (Griggs) Sharp (Jeffery). After 41 wonderful years of marriage, Angie was widowed in 1997. At this time she was able to further explore her love and devotion to Jesus and the Blessed Mother by beginning her journey to joining the Third Order of the Dominican Laity. Often times in the following years Angie stated that this was one of her greatest and most precious accomplishments. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who is survived by her three children and eight grand children, Bess, Dawn, Sara, Anne, Amber, Abby, Angela and Anthony, and her great grand sons Michael and Aaron, and her brother Victor. Visitation for Angie will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt, Livonia 48154.
