Alan was 71 at his death, and will be missed by the "family of friends" from his volunteering affilations: the Auxiliary Police at Detroit's 16th Precinct, and fellow Army veterans from his service in the Korean War. Alan also had many friends from his special interest activities: He was an expert marksman and a Civil War enthusiast. Alan leaves behind a brother, Don (Susan) O'Neill Calkins, and 3 dear nieces Lori, Mary and Kristin. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, April 7th from 9 am to 12 noon, with a Service at 12 noon. Alan's burial will be private, at Grandlawn Cemetery in Detroit.
